С ::: The interview with Emmanuelle Vaugier

Actress Emmanuelle Vaugier discusses her role as the star of Need for Speed Carbon.

It"s not uncommon for a guy to drool when he sees a beautiful lady. And it"s not uncommon for a guy to drool when he sees a cool car or an equally cool video game. Which means that a lot of guys are going to be dehydrated when they see Need for Speed Carbon, the hot new racing game from EA that not only features fly rides and fast action, but also the lovely Emmanuelle Vaugier, who"s appeared on such TV shows as Smallville and Two And A Half Men and in such movies as Saw II and the upcoming Unearthed.

GameSpy: How did you get the role in Need for Speed Carbon?

Emmanuelle Vaugier: I was actually on a chairlift at a charity skiing event with my manager when she turned to me and said, "Oh, I forgot to tell you, you got offered a role in a video game." So when I got back home I found out more about it, because I had never been offered anything like this.

GameSpy: What was it about this game, and your role in it, that made you want to do it?

Vaugier: I played video games when I was a kid, and my favorites were always the racing games. And Mario Bros. So it was cool that they offered me a role in a racing game.

GameSpy: Unlike a lot of games, where you would normally just provide the voice for a computer-animated character, you actually appear in the game, and had to act against a green screen. Was that part of the appeal for you?

Vaugier: That actually made it way more interesting, because how many times in my career am I going to be a sort of animated version of myself instead of being just the voice of a little cartoon? It"s fabulous. It was also really cool to see the process of how it was done.

GameSpy: Had you done any extensive green screen before?

Vaugier: I"ve done some before, but not to the extent that we did with this game. Most of the green screen stuff I"ve done has been fairly simple.

GameSpy: Based on the last two Need for Speeds, and every other video game I"ve ever played, I"m guessing they dressed you in some sexy outfits, yes?

Vaugier: Yeah, there"s some pretty cute outfits, some little skirts. I"d say sexy cool, not racy. I was just hoping I wasn"t going to be in some leather number that barely covered me.

GameSpy: Yeah, that would"ve sucked. Did they suggest any that were a bit too sexy for you?

Vaugier: No, actually the wardrobe lady came to my house in L.A. when she was down there shopping, and all the stuff that she brought over was great. It was just a matter of figuring out what looked best. There was nothing where I was like, "I am not wearing that!"

GameSpy: In the other games, the characters sometimes had to lean over into the car to look the player in the eye. When picking your outfits, did you take this into consideration?

Vaugier: There was that. Or things where I"m standing up while wearing a mini skirt that"s… fairly mini. But it"s just a matter of maneuvering yourself. After many years of having to wear little outfits on shows, you learn how to deal with that. It"s an art.

GameSpy: You mentioned earlier being into racing video games when you were a kid. Had you kept up with any of the new ones?

Vaugier: I hadn"t really. Sometimes when I was at a bowling alley or the movies I"d play something. But I also have friends who are gamers, and they"d let me play… until they saw how horrible I was and would be like, "Okay, why don"t you go get yourself a drink." Now, of course, I have Need for Speed: Most Wanted at my house, which EA gave me. Though I need to get myself one of those steering wheels. I should just have a fake car in my house, replace my couch with one.

GameSpy: Now, you come across as a reasonably intelligent woman. Do you know what the atomic symbol for carbon is?

Vaugier: It"s "C."

GameSpy: Correct. You"ve won a new car! Actually, I want to ask you, what kind of car do you drive?

Vaugier: I"d rather not say.

GameSpy: No worries. What"s the worst speeding ticket you"ve ever gotten?

Vaugier: I"ve never gotten a speeding ticket. I"ve gotten parking tickets, but I"ve never been pulled over for speeding. Which is why I don"t want to tell you what kind of car I drive.

GameSpy: Gotcha. Finally, when you see a guy in a flashy sports car, do you think, "Wow, I"d like to meet that guy" or "Oh, too bad you have a small penis"?

Vaugier: "Oh, too bad you have a small penis."

GameSpy: Well, then I"m glad I don"t drive a flashy sports car.
